Abstract

This document presents the results of the research whose objective was the elaboration of a participatory diagnosis of rural housing in the municipality of San Cayetano in the department of Cundinamarca province of Rionegro- Colombia, from the analysis of architectural aspects, household sanitary facilities (drinking water and sewerage), geotechnical and structural systems. To carry out the diagnosis, a theoretical characterization was carried out on the sociocultural and environmental aspects of the municipality related to rural housing and the application of surveys that contain questions on aspects already mentioned, as well as technical-legal and social aspects of housing. San Cayetano is one of the eight municipalities that make up the province of Rionegro of the department of Cundinamarca Colombia, is located northwest of the department, on the eastern mountain range, the climate is diverse between hot and cold, with a total of approximately 1474 households in the population centers and scattered rural, presenting a housing deficit of 83.45%, in the field visits it is identified that the rural dwellings of the municipality mostly have difficulties of ownership of the property, do not have geotechnical studies and construction licenses; since the construction process has been carried out by self-construction, in the same way they lack a sewerage system and solid waste collection. From the findings, there is little government advice and accompaniment for the processes of previous technical studies, design and construction of housing, this is due to the lack of a public policy according to the needs and conditions of the municipality.
